As we approach the winter season, we want to ensure that everyone is informed about our inclement weather protocols. The safety of our students, staff, and community is our top priority. Visit our Closings & Delays page.
The District has existing procedures to handle weather-related disruptions. These procedures include school closure, delayed starting times, and early release protocols.
The current weather forecast includes a local storm and we are unsure of the impact it will have on weather conditions in our area. There is a 45% chance of precipitation with temperatures ranging from 23 degrees to 43 degrees Fahrenheit. With the unpredictability of this storm's impact, we are providing you with information on the different protocols that the District may implement.
School Closures
-
Notification: In the event of a school closure, we will notify families via email, text message, and our school district's website by 6:00 AM.
-
Local Media: Information will also be shared with local TV and radio stations.
-
Social Media: Follow our official social media accounts for real-time updates.
Delayed Start
-
In the event that weather is forecasted to improve throughout the day, the District will implement a delayed start to the school day. The delayed start will be determined by the road conditions and likelihood of the weather conditions improving.
-
Notification: In the event of a school delay, we will notify families via email, text message, and our school district's website by 6:00 AM. If a delayed start becomes a school closure, a message will be sent to families.
-
Transportation: Buses will operate on their regular routes, but delays will occur. Students will be picked up at the bus stops at the exact time after the delay interval.
-
60 Minute Delay - Student pickup is 60 minutes after regular pickup time
-

Early Dismissals
-
Notification: If weather conditions worsen during the school day, we may decide to dismiss students early. This is not a preferred procedure and this protocol will only be implemented in collaboration with local law enforcement and emergency personnel. Families will be notified through the same channels mentioned above.
-
Transportation: Buses will operate on their regular routes, but delays may occur due to road conditions. Please ensure someone is available to receive your child at the bus stop.
Safety Precautions
-
Dress Appropriately: Please ensure your child is dressed warmly with appropriate winter clothing, including beanies, gloves, and boots.
-
Emergency Contacts: Make sure your emergency contact information is up to date in the Infinite Campus system.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we navigate the winter season. Our goal is to keep everyone safe while minimizing disruptions to learning. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's school office.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
Warm regards,
Frankie Alvarado
